Please have a look at /proc/version, which should have all the info you need : 

Linux version 2.6.14-2-powerpc (Debian 2.6.14-3) (waldi@debian.org) (gcc

11:55:12 UTC 2005

This is mine, for example, and you see that it is 2.6.14-2-powerpc official
kernel built from debian source 2.6.14-3.
