Nope, the latest are now provided by the linux-2.6 package as a legacy
compatibility thingy and depend on the linux-image 2.6.12 kernels. I think
from now on, and with the exception of the mips kernels, all 2.6 kernel
related source packages which are not linux-2.6 should go.

Nope, we did the right thing, and there are all compatibility packages or
provides for all of those, and it should work out well, and if it does not,
then it is a bug we need to fix and the sooner we know about it the better.

Please remove all those packages from etch/sid, for 2.6, the only remaining
packages should be :

  linux-2.6 
  the mips/mipsel linux-image generating package. not sure about his name.

And well, the situation is still ugly in 2.4 land, but that is a different
issue.
