Is this a result of using gcc-4.0?  It is known that 2.6.8 does not work
with gcc-4.0.  2.6.8 will be removed from unstable as soon as we get a
d-i beta out that no longer needs it.

gcc-4.0 wasn't in sarge, so this isn't an issue for sarge.  However,
should we ever do a non-security 2.6.8 update for sarge we do have a
patch in svn[1] to hardcode the compiler to gcc-3.3 to avoid these
issues.
