Also, i believe we need a 2.6.12-6 upload which fix the remaining problems and
can go into sarge.

BTW, isn't it time to switch to initramfs ? 

Maybe a good plan would be to get 2.6.12 in testing, and then switch to 2.6.13
and initramfs ?
