Bug#321866: kernel-image-2.6.8-2-k7: tattered symlinks left in / after purge
Package: kernel-image-2.6.8-2-k7
Severity: wishlist
Upon purge, the user sees
# apt-get remove --purge kernel-image-2.6.8-2-k7
The following packages will be REMOVED:
kernel-image-2.6-k7* kernel-image-2.6.8-2-k7*
The link /vmlinuz is a dangling link
Removing symbolic link /vmlinuz...
# ls -og /
drwxr-xr-x 2 1024 2005-08-08 00:58 boot
drwxr-xr-x 2 1024 2002-05-29 04:24 initrd
lrwxrwxrwx 1 27 2005-08-04 01:41 initrd.img.old -> boot/initrd.img-2.6.11-1-k7
lrwxrwxrwx 1 24 2005-08-04 01:41 vmlinuz.old -> boot/vmlinuz-2.6.11-1-k7
etc.
# ls /boot/|grep k7
initrd.img-2.6.11-1-k7
initrd.img-2.6.12-1-k7
vmlinuz-2.6.11-1-k7
vmlinuz-2.6.12-1-k7...
So we see that after installing 11 and 12, then removing 8, one is
left with apparently tattered irrelevant symlinks in /.
(I'm not sure why there is an old empty initrd directory sitting in / either.)
