Package: kernel-source-2.6.9
Version: 2.6.9-2
Severity: Critical

Using my 2.6.8 config file for a custom kernel, I built a 2.6.9 kernel
using make oldconfig.
Rebooted into the new kernel.
Went to compile a 2.6.9 kernel for another machine.
make-kpkg/gcc seg faulted. easily repeatable bug. seg faults happen
at apparently random places in execution.
going back to 2.6.8 kernel fixes the problem.
attempted using gcc-3.4, same result.

system is AMD Athlon 1GHz chip
512 MB memory in 2 DIMMs

my PII and PIII systems do not have this problem. only the Athlon.

others on debian-users list have reported similar problems. at their
suggestion, the severity was marked critical.
