Package: kernel-source-2.6.9
Version: 2.6.9-2
Severity: wishlist

Ruby is the multi-seat Linux patch of the Linux Console Project:
http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?forum_id=5379&max_rows=25&style=nested&viewmonth=200411
There are patches for many Linux versions. The latest is for 2.6.9. It is here:
http://www.ltn.lv/~aivils/ where the location of the 2.6.9 patch is indicated:
http://www.ltn.lv/~aivils/files/ruby-2.6.9-20041021.diff.bz2

WHAT IT DOES
It allows you to have multiple users use one PC by multiplying monitors on PCI videocards
and adding keyboards/mice on USB. It avoids the cost of adding PC's on a local net to add users.

(I stand to be corrected on the following Aivils is the author) It allows the kernel to separate
separate keyboard inputs to different virtual terminals.

I myself have 2 video cards on a KT7A mobo with 850Mhz Athlon: a TNT2 AGP and a MX-440 PCI. On those
sit 2 17" monitors. Two IBM style keyboards are plugged into the outlets for "keyboard" and "mouse"
and 2 A4Tech optical mice in 2 USB ports.

XFree86 needs to be patched to isolate devices and the Sarge Xserver version has that patch as IsolateDevice.

Of course there might be all sorts of reasons not to do this.
I think it would be a boon. I applied the patch to the Debian 2.6.9 source clean yesterday.

Thanks.
