Just thinking some more about my proposed fix... using dpkg-architecture would mean "Require: dpkg-dev" but the idea could perhaps be reworked to use "uname -m" which is in coreutils which is: $ apt-cache show coreutils Package: coreutils Essential: yes Priority: required Section: base ..... Not sure what a powerpc machine outputs for "uname -m" though... Alex Owen
