sorry, figured out what it was. It's a warning that you get when try to
build in essential modules, in this case scsi disk support and the scsi
pci card support for my server which is using a scsi drive as /. If you
ignore this error (with the modules build in) it works just fine, the
thing is that it just scares you to get a few FATAL errors after
compiling a kernel, which can hurt your system badly if you screw it up.
So i'm thinking a good thing to implement would be a built in module
detection system or something to get rid of this error, thus saving
people a scare. Sorry for posting before investigating more thoroughly.

though one error i get is that when compiling a kernel from kernel.org
like for example the 2.6.10 (well it's the only one i tried) it gives me
errors with some Device Drivers -> Character Devices things. I haven't
been able to figure out which one specifically is responsible, but by
removing all the ones besides the ones my system needs i can bypass
this. This also happens on other systems i've done recompiles on,
though i have only tried with the kernel 2.6.10.

thanks for the attention,

thanks for your quick reply. :)
but please don't drop bug reports from cc.
well that's indeed a wishlist,
don't know if we'll get to that before sarge.
anyway now the cause is easier to reproduce.

have a nice day.
