Bug#299670: Kernel 2.6.8-powerpc won't boot with Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick

Package: kernel
Version: 2.6.8-powerpc

I have a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick. When I boot the machine
using the "sarge rc2" kernel as supplied from Debian, the system
freezes. Some apparently-related messages are on the screen at that
time, but I'll supply everything I can see:

The above was manually typed, but I believe it is accurate.

My keyboard responds in the usual way (I can type stuff, get line feeds,
change NumLock, etc.), but I can't Ctrl-Alt-F2 to change screens. The
system doesn't boot.

If I plug the joystick in AFTER I boot, the system stays up but the
joystick doesn't work.

My hardware is a new Mac Mini base model (1.25GHz/256MB/40GB and no
extras), a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick, and a PS2-style mouse and
keyboard via a generic PS2-to-USB "y" cable.

My kernel is 2.6.8-powerpc from "sarge rc2" as supplied from Debian.
I've tried the stable 2.6.11.3 that was released from kernel.org 13
March 2005. With that kernel and essentially the same configuration
(make oldconfig, accepting default choices for new options), the system
boots correctly and the joystick functions correctly.

Thank you for your effort!

If anyone needs to reach me, my telephone number is toll free (866)

would prefer to keep my email away from spammers.
