kernel-image-2.4.27-2-686-smp hangs at shutdown: 'flushing ide devices'

At shutdown hangs when "flushing ide devices hda hdc hde". I am not sure
it is a constant problem, but I need the box up and cannot do another
check. My hardware is:

- Dell Precision Workstation 470
- Dual Intel® Xeon(tm) Processor (3.0GHz, 800MHz FSB, 1MB cache)
- Processor Hyper-Threading
- Boot HDD NOT in RAID: 40GB (7,200 rpm) Serial ATA Hard Drive with
DataBurst Cache(tm)
- 160GB (7,200 rpm) Serial ATA Hard Drive with DataBurst Cache(tm)
- Intel® E7525 chipset thats is: Intel 82801EB/ER controller.


I don't seem to find anything in the kernel log, but I'll submit it
anyway in it's entirety, just in case.

I am using Debian GNU/Linux 3.1 Sarge, kernel 2.4.27-2-686-smp,
initrd-tools 0.1.74, sysvinit 2.86.ds1-1.
