Bug#286396: Unexplicable Freeze

When running on a Debian Sid with standard unstable repositories,
Xfree86, and the fglrx (compiled correctly, it is the mdule for £
d support on ATI video cards) module loaded, the Xfree86 server will
eventually freeze with no foresigns, leaving the screen locked, after 10
seconds from startx one time, after 10 hours another time and so on.
I could not detect any application or library being the cause.
Logs are clean.
Other things noticed:
1) on the 2.6.8-1-k7-smp the problem isn't coming up
2) internet traffic drops to zero, keyboard, mouse and filesystems are
locked and even pinging from a nearby computer won't get any answers.
If any other information is needed i will be glad to provide it.
