Why don't you ask the debian kernel maintainers to add that workaround
to their package instead? It's the kernel which is broken, I think that
ugly workarounds should go in the package which requires them.

in-kernel autostart of RAID devices, i.e. the standard debian kernel
does not work because the md driver is modular.
