Bug#283852: not compiling ub.ko? breaks usb-storage

Package: kernel-source-2.6.9
Severity: normal

I don't know if this affects all systems but according to google
I'm at least not the only one. And a little rant on IRC immediatly
yield some "/me too" results.

Since 2.6.9 hotplug tries to use the ub module to handle devices previously
handled by usb-storage (e.g. memory sticks). This has at least two drawbacks:
At least if using a static /dev this fails miserably since the necessary
devices aren't there by default. And according to the mails I found on google
it is slower than usb-storage, too. Since the only solution seems to be to
not compile ub.ko at all (simply unloading it and loading usb-storage doesn't
work) I would vote for not compiling it by default if there aren't any good
reasons against it. We were fine without it before ;)
