aic7xxx works fine with 2.4.x and even 2.6.7. Just in 2.6.8 it has stopped
working. If you look into the changelog of the 2.6.8 you can see that
<James.Bottomley@steeleye.com> has changed the probing of SCSI devices in
aic7xxx. I've send email to this person, but got no answer. Please, if you
know how to alert kernel developers about this bug, do it.

BTW. I use preemtive kernel. I wonder if this bug would appear in
non-preemtive kernels. I cannot try it now because now I'm very far away
from the machines with aic7892.
