Does this kernel exhibit the same behaviour?

Unfortunately I can't test this before friday 2004/12/03, since this will take some downtime. I'll let you know on saturday.

Thanks, I am actually going to be on holidays next week,
so I will probably upload the new images to Debian.Org before that.
In any case, please let me know how you go.

The xfs problem has not yet appeared so far, but we got the following (after 2 days uptime):

__alloc_pages: 0-order allocation failed (gfp=0x1f0/0)
__alloc_pages: 0-order allocation failed (gfp=0x1d2/0)
VM: killing process klogd
__alloc_pages: 0-order allocation failed (gfp=0x1f0/0)
__alloc_pages: 0-order allocation failed (gfp=0xf0/0)
__alloc_pages: 0-order allocation failed (gfp=0x1d2/0)
__alloc_pages: 0-order allocation failed (gfp=0xf0/0)

It looks like that these problems started, when there was heavy load with the tsm backup.

On starting we got some ACPI error messages:
Dec 6 20:01:40 gfs kernel: ACPI-1133: *** Error: Method execution failed [\_SB_.PCI0.LPC0.LNKA._STA] (Node dfac2fa0), AE_AML_NO_RETURN_VALUE Dec 6 20:01:40 gfs kernel: ACPI-0154: *** Error: Method execution failed [\_SB_.PCI0.LPC0.LNKA._STA] (Node dfac2fa0), AE_AML_NO_RETURN_VALUE Dec 6 20:01:40 gfs kernel: ACPI-1133: *** Error: Method execution failed [\_SB_.PCI0.LPC0.LNKB._STA] (Node c16082a0), AE_AML_NO_RETURN_VALUE Dec 6 20:01:40 gfs kernel: ACPI-0154: *** Error: Method execution failed [\_SB_.PCI0.LPC0.LNKB._STA] (Node c16082a0), AE_AML_NO_RETURN_VALUE Dec 6 20:01:40 gfs kernel: ACPI-1133: *** Error: Method execution failed [\_SB_.PCI0.LPC0.LNKC._STA] (Node c16083c0), AE_AML_NO_RETURN_VALUE Dec 6 20:01:40 gfs kernel: ACPI-0154: *** Error: Method execution failed [\_SB_.PCI0.LPC0.LNKC._STA] (Node c16083c0), A

I don't know if the two problems are related.

btw. we're running a nfs/smb/atalk fileserver with evms/lvm/xfs.

Should I use a non smp kernel?

regards
Stefan
