machine:
power tower pro, G3/300, 512 MB RAM

at first glance it seems to be in the aic7xxx driver sources. i've also
noticed some machine lock ups with an aaa-131u2 card. is that because of
the issues with that driver, or something else?

This was resolved in 2.6.8-10
