Bug#282088: kernel-source-2.6.9: Add vesafb-tng patch to Debian kernel
Package: kernel-source-2.6.9
Version: 2.6.9-2
Severity: wishlist
Vesafb-tng is from here:
http://dev.gentoo.org/~spock/projects/vesafb-tng/
As the page describes, it allows the user to:
* set graphic modes with higher-than-standard refresh rates,
* set modes by specifying their name, like 1024x768-32@85 - no more
need to look up mode numbers in the VESA mode tables!
* set graphic modes at any time (not only at boot),
* get more info about the VBE BIOS (through /proc and dmesg output),
* compile and use vesafb as a module,
* use the console with vesafb and have X running with nVidia binary
drivers.
I add this patch:
http://dev.gentoo.org/~spock/projects/vesafb-tng/archive/vesafb-tng-0.9-rc4-r3-2.6.9.patch
It adds clean except for the conflict with Konfig and the modular-vesafb patch already in.
No doubt due to being one of the clueless, I can only boot the 2.6.9 kernel and framebuffers
with this patch.
Thanks
Hugo
