Package: kernel-image-2.6.8-1-686
Version: 2.6.8-4
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks unrelated software

Vmware's HGFS driver builds and installs into the kernel, but when doing
simple operations like 'cp' from the HGFS filesystem to EXT3 (or
anything, I assume) the file never stops copying, and the result is a
huge file composed of the source file over and over.
Another example is trying to run a perl script, where it never stops
compiling the script and all the global variables throw warnings of
redefinitions on lines that don't exist.
This module worked fine prior to 2.6.8

This appears to be a vmware bug. Please open another bug if you
discover a malfunction in ext3 somewhere.
