Bug#278508: kernel: via-velocitiy 2.6.8 problems

Package: kernel

Running kernel 2.6.8 with a via-velocitiy network card, have had quite a
few problems with the drivers (I belive they were new in 2.6.8).
Most annoying problem of which was trying to dereference null pointer
every time I bring the loopback device up whilst my network card is
running.

There has been rather a lot of via-velocity patches in 2.6.9 but they
have fixed the problems now I think. Definatly a candidate for
backporting in my opinion if 2.6.8 is going to be the kernel in sarge.
