swsusp in current mainline kernel is incompatible with initrd for what
I know, which, I think, is a reason why it can't be a part of
official debian kernel ATM. However swsusp has recently added support
for initrd and besides that is a lot more robust and featureful than
swsusp in vanilla. It is vurrently in the process of being merged
into the mainline. I would really hope that it could go into Debian
kernels in the near future. Is that possible?

Fedor.
