Bug#270198: kernel-image-2.6.7-1-686: does not detect ATA om Intel mobo

Package: kernel-image-2.6.7-1-686
Version: 2.6.7-2
Severity: important

I needed to move two SCSI drives comprising a working Sarge system from
one box to another,

Working system was Asus P2L97-S mobo with working SCSI and ATA drives.

Replacement is Intel NL440BX with onboard sym/ncr SCSI.

Note that the BX chipset on this board is the successor to the LX used
in the Asus mobo.

On this same system the kernel 2.4.26-1-686 recognises the ATA drive
just fine.

Here is the dmidecode output for this system:

# dmidecode 2.4
