Bug#268899: kernel-image-2.6.8-i386: "the directory /lib/modules/* still exists."

Package: kernel-image-2.6.8-i386
Severity: minor

Everytime I install a kernel, I get the very confusing (long text!)
message that something possibly dangerous is going on because, say,
/lib/modules/2.6.8-1-386 "still exists" (already exists is a far better
description, actually).

"I can't tell the difference." the message tells me. I beg to differ.
All that's there is the "build" link that the kernel-headers package
(from the same source!) installed. This should be fairly easy to spot.

Rephrased as a wishlist bug: Please try to make the detection a little
smarter to avoid some of the warnings in more common cases.
