Bug#264528: kernel-image-2.6.7-1-k7: Nvidia nForce2 lockups under severe ide activity

Package: kernel-image-2.6.7-1-k7
Version: 2.6.7-2
Severity: normal

Hello,

I am experiencing machine hangs under severe ide-activity, e.g "hdparm
-t" with this kernel version. The version 2.6.7-k7-smp works fine.
It seems to be exactly the problem described here:

http://bugme.osdl.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2552

I have an EPOX 8RDA3+ Board with an AMD Barton XP 2600.

However, according to the 2.6.6 Changelog this problem should have
been solved in 2.6.6 although in 2.6.7 there was another change:

<B.Zolnierkiewicz@elka.pw.edu.pl>
	[PATCH] apply nForce2 fixup only if C1 Halt Disconnect is enabled

Maybe this is the problem, there is no kernel message whether the nforce
fixup was enabled, neither with the k7 nor with the k7-smp, with both
messages I only get:

$ dmesg | grep -i nforce
NFORCE2: IDE controller at PCI slot 0000:00:09.0
NFORCE2: chipset revision 162
NFORCE2: not 100% native mode: will probe irqs later
NFORCE2: BIOS didn't set cable bits correctly. Enabling workaround.
NFORCE2: 0000:00:09.0 (rev a2) UDMA133 controller
forcedeth.c: Reverse Engineered nForce ethernet driver. Version 0.25.
ohci_hcd 0000:00:02.0: nVidia Corporation nForce2 USB Controller
ohci_hcd 0000:00:02.1: nVidia Corporation nForce2 USB Controller (#2)

Thus as a workaround I am using the SMP kernel.

Greetings
