Bug#258589: kernel-image-2.6.5-1-k7: names of modules change in this kernel
Package: kernel-image-2.6.5-1-k7
Version: 2.6.5-4
Severity: important
Hi,
I just upgraded from stable to testing & also the kernel. I was
surprised to find out, that certain module names have changed (before
I was using 2.4.19 from woody)! I'm assuming this is because of the
kernel developers. For example: I had to find & change the names of
the modules for mouse, keyboard & sound. Simple things like:
usb-uhci --> uhci-hcd
Wouldn't it be a good idea to inform the user, of potential
changes in module names, due to upgrading from an older kernel? In
addition, mention which modules come with the kernel. Remind the user,
that certain modules aren't compiled in the kernel & that they must
add the line in their /etc/modules.
Thanks for your support.
