Which mkinitrd normaly handles. Does it break on any arch? Have you
filed a bugreport?

Since some archs use their own cvs it might be quite some time to get
all archs into an incremental patch setup instead of just declaring
the diff between debian and the cvs as kernel-patch-arch.
But thats the decision of each arch. If they just uploadthe diff to
cvs for each release they will get a lot of breakage mails from the
system but its their decision.
