Re: Bug#727800: kmail: KMail goes bonkers following Qt update

Hi,

This is in response to a discussion that started in#727800 [1], which is about
an upgrade problem.

I am currently experiencing a quite severe case of #760707[2]: No mail gets
sent until I restart Akonadi (you may note that this message's delivery times
are somewhat removed from its "sent" time). If there's any info I can
reasonably provide, I'll be happy to.

But that's a characteristic of KMail2 bugs: You don't get good reports with
easy reproducibility, because (I think) the root cause is extreme sensitivity
to anything being slightly off in the environment; and go figure which
combination of factors, exactly, causes which undesired behavior.

That's a pity; I don't think KMail2, in anything resembling its current state,
belongs in Debian Stable.

I used to think such comments in KDE-dedicated forums were unhelpful. I don't
think so anymore. Now I find them helpful for people who want to stay on KDE
and have a functional mail client.

For the record, Evolution has horrible BiDi bugs that have been left
unresolved for years. Its behavior is actually worse (less predictable) than
just decreeing that everything is always left-to-right. I'm a Hebrew user.

Thunderbird is generally workable, but likes HTML a little too much for my
tastes (this, to a degree, is also true of KMail2).

I will be looking at Claws soon.

Thanks,
	Shai.
