Accessing USB drive via Konqueror fails

Hello,

accessing an USB drive via Konqueror using an URL like system:/media/sda2
recently gives "Rights denied" (straightforward translation
from "Berechtigungen verweigert", probably means access denied). It
worked for a long while without a problem, but now it doesn't work
anymore - and I have not the foggiest what change might trigger this. I
searched around a lot, but didn't found anything.

Anyone else having this problem? Before writing a bug report I thought I
ask here.

Using pmount as the user I logged in with works okay.

User martin is in group plugdev (as well as in group hal, but that
shouldn't be necessary I think, probably it might not even be wise).

The device files are available:

deepdance:~> ls -l /dev/sda*
brw-rw---- 1 root disk 8, 0 2006-11-28 20:36 /dev/sda
brw-rw---- 1 root disk 8, 1 2006-11-28 20:36 /dev/sda1
brw-rw---- 1 root disk 8, 2 2006-11-28 20:36 /dev/sda2

User "martin" is not in group disk, but AFAIK this shouldn't be necessary
to mount, as pmount runs setuid root:

deepdance:~> ls -l $(which pmount)
-rwsr-xr-- 1 root plugdev 29280 2006-09-11 13:48 /usr/bin/pmount

This is with Debian Etch/Sid/Unstable using following package versions:

deepdance:~> dpkg -l | cut -c1-70 | egrep "(hal|dbus|udev|konqueror|
kdebase-kio)"
ii dbus 1.0.1-2

ii libdbus-qt-1-1c2 0.62.git.20060814-2
ii libhal-storage1 0.5.8.1-4
ii libhal1 0.5.8.1-4
ii python-dbus 0.71-3
ii udev 0.100-2.3

So, now mounting the thing via command line interface using "pmount"...
