Hmm, maybe this will help: http://perso.wanadoo.fr/apoirier/ I've seen this problem before on a NEC Versa, the vesa bios doesn't know about 1400x1050, this tool allows you to change one of the available resolutions to 1400x1050 (I changed 1920xsomething, LCD can't display any higher anyway).
