This didnt make any difference. I also tried apt-building xfree86, xlibs,
qt-libs and kdelibs for 686, but the menues are still slow. x11perf is
showing a slight performance increase, but nothing major.
I don't think this is a 686/386 compilation issue..
Btw, How can i check that it's really compiling for 686 and that it's using
those packages? The packages generated are still names 386-something, but the
apt-build config says its building for pIV...
I also downloaded Knoppix and booted it, there the menues were fast also on
this computer, so it has to be some kind of configuration/building error
somewhere... (See below for x11perf comparsion between debian boot and
knoppix boot)
This is really driving me nuts! :]

I thought it was pretty much automated, but what do i know.. since I'mnot
really noticing any difference, perhaps it's not worth the extra effort..?
