I'm surprised no one has mentioned it, but the X bug also affects Win+Tab 
(walk through desktops) in the same way.

The short term fix for this appears to be thus:
    xmodmap -e 'clear mod4' -e 'add mod4 = Super_L'

I should note that the patch at [1] does fix the Alt+Tab issue (for me, after 
restarting X of course), but not the Win+Tab issue.
