Still having the problem?
check /etc/fonts/local.conf and see if the bitmap fonts are commented out. If
they are, remove the comment saying enable to enable bitmap fonts and then
run fc-cacke -fv and you will soon have your fonts back. I have to do this
every now and then when KDE goes upstream.
