It seems that I don't use UTF8 now (but they are generated), I can't remember
if I used though or if it was broken the last time that I tried.

I don't use the msttcorefonts package but I picked some ttf from a hasefroch
box, but I prefer the adobe type1 fonts everytime.

I dislike a lot in especial Arial (I will send you an article in spanish which
explains why it sucks).

> Do you use defoma? Could you show me you fonts paths?

I have defoma installed but since I really don't use/need I haven't touched
either.

The font paths on XF86Config-4:

    FontPath "/usr/lib/X11/fonts/misc"
    FontPath "/usr/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi:unscaled"
    FontPath "/usr/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi:unscaled"
    FontPath "/usr/lib/X11/fonts/Speedo"
    FontPath "/usr/lib/X11/fonts/Type1"
    FontPath "/usr/share/fonts"
    FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/afms"
    FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/truetype"
    FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/type1"
    FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/truetype/freefont"
    FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/truetype/openoffice"
    FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/type1/gsfonts"
    FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/type1/t1-xfree86-nonfree"
    FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/afms/adobe"
    FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/opentype"
    FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/bitmap"

And on fonts.conf:

        <dir>/usr/share/fonts</dir>
        <dir>/var/lib/defoma/x-ttcidfont-conf.d/dirs</dir>
        <dir>/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1</dir>
        <dir>/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc</dir>
        <dir>~/.fonts</dir>
