%s expansion in klipper not working

Several weeks back (maybe a month) there was a security update for
Debian Stable that replaced a bunch of the KDE packages.  After that,
I noticed that "%s" expansion in klipper stopped working.  I seem to
be seeing the same difficulty as written up in this message to the
list:

>From searching through the archives, I haven't seen a response to the
above or any other hints on how to fix this.

Is there a fix for this?
