Then 'cd /var/cache/apt/archives/' and 'dpkg --force-all -i
<package_name>' Do that for each package that has problems like the one
above. Then 'apt-get -f install', to fix everything up and continue
again with the upgrade. It will necessary to do this for every upgrade
until the packages are all perfectly sorted in this respect.

I think it was mentioned in previous posts that the best way to upgrade is to completely remove all of kde before installing the new versions. It can be done easily by 'apt-get remove libqt3 libqt3-mt'. You should pass the --purge option if you don't mind losing the configuration files. This should cause all kde programs to be removed since every program depends on libqt3.
I removed everything and had zero problems getting beta2 installed.
