how do you start KDE ? if you start via kdm (login manager) you'll perhaps
have to put "kde2" in /etc/kde2/kdmrc as a Session (additionally to
"failsafe", and "default"). Or put "kde2" in $HOME/.wmrc.

Otherwise you can do "startx kde2" if you start X via command line.
