Bug#1055974: django-yarnpkg: Compatibility Issue with Upcoming node-yarnpkg Changes
Package: django-yarnpkg
Version: 6.1.0-1
Severity: important
X-Debbugs-Cc: ikwuegbu300@gmail.com, debian-js@lists.debian.org
Dear Maintainer,
I am writing to inform you of some changes in node-yarnpkg that might
affect your package.
Recently, node-yarnpkg announced a major update [1] that would introduce
some breaking changes in its behavior. One important change is that
node-yarnpkg would no longer use the node_modules directory to store
the installed dependencies but would now use a new format called
Plug'n'Play (PnP). This means that the dependencies would be stored
in a single file called .pnp.js, and the Node.js modules resolution
algorithm would be modified to use this file instead of the node_modules
directory.
To help you prepare for the changes, we have prepared some notes that
you can find in the README.Debian and NEWS files of the
node-yarnpkg package [2]. You can also refer to the offical yarn
documentation for more details.
We hope that this notice would help you avoid potential issues and
ensure compatibility of your package.
