GNU/Linux System Administrator in Charlotte, North Carolina

We are looking for a GNU/Linux System Administrator in Charlotte, North Carolina. Other locations near the EST timezone will be considered. Resume's / cover letters may be sent to me.

Job Description

Oversee, administer, and provide support for a network of GNU/Linux servers, and technical support for GNU/Linux workstations, in multiple locations. Will be responsible for security updates, upgrades, general system health, anticipating problems, correcting problems, collecting statistics on system operation and health, maintaining security policies, building and installing systems (software side), and writing and maintaining code supporting the company's systems infrastructure.

Challenging environment: System comprises multiple databases (updating constantly), containing hundreds of millions of records, being accessed by over a dozen different servers.

Looking for mid-level, but will consider junior and senior level as well, as long as you eat sleep and breathe this stuff, have been doing it as a hobby for a long time (in the case of the former), and aren't stuck in your ways (in the case of the latter).

The main office is based in Huntersville, NC. Competitive compensation.

Skills and Requirements

We're looking for people who love to tinker with computers (hardware and software), who work with text terminals all the time (and prefer it!), and who work well under pressure, but who also like to fix problems by finding solutions that fundamentally address and improve the underlying systems.

    Enough experience to dive in completely without assistance and minimal direction (man pages and search engines are your friend)
    Debian or Ubuntu experience preferred, although any modern distro. is acceptable (we mainly use Debian stretch and more recently, buster)
    Ansible is used extensively to automate bare metal and VM provisioning
    Scripting and coding ability (essential: bash; helpful: php, ruby, java)
    VM experience (Xen)
    Git experience
    MySQL / MariaDB / Percona experience
    Bonus: experience installing and / or using Arch Linux, Gentoo or LFS
    Bonus: experience configuring pfSense
    Bonus: Zabbix experience
    Bonus: LDAP experience
