The Open Build Service (OBS) is a powerful build and maintenance infrastructure
developed by SUSE. It is an all-in-one solution for maintaining package sources,
building packages and creating repositories for different distributions and
products.
It consolidates the many different hosting and build services developers
have used in the past into one common system reducing the threshold for contributing
to package projects for openSUSE and other distributions. OBS supports building
packages for openSUSE as well as many other Linux distributions like Debian and
Fedora. Furthermore, OBS supports building AppImages and ISO images and many
other types of projects.
Anyone can host their own OBS instance to set up their own infrastructure for
building packages, images and projects for their distribution of choice. OBS
is one of the best tools in the market to build a Linux distribution.
OBS is mainly written in Ruby on Rails and Perl and the team is looking for
a Full Stack Web Developer to join their team. If you have experience with
full stack web development and want to join one of the oldest Linux and
true open source companies, then you will certainly find a new home at
SUSE.
Having worked at SUSE for almost two years now, I still enjoy my day-to-day
job on my team. The atmosphere at SUSE is very welcoming and relaxed. We
have bi-annual hackfests where everyone can work on their pet projects for

life at SUSE very enjoyable.
