Linux systems engineer in Brighton England

We’re looking for a Linux systems engineer for our capacity
engineering department. As a member of our team, you'd help us
provision, maintain and automate a substantial chunk of hardware
across multiple data centres, ensuring that our colleagues have a
stable pool of resources to use for our amazing analytics platform.

You'd be responsible for performing first-line troubleshooting and
optimization, monitoring systems to proactively stop problems in their
tracks, and generally building the glue that holds various services
together - or sharing your knowledge with other teams to help them get
the job done.

We’ve also got exciting things planned for the future, and if you’d
like to get in on the ground floor, we’d like your help! Architecting
solutions in the cloud (AWS and GCP), implementing things like
on-premise Kubernetes, and who knows what else.

To hit the ground running, you’d need these core skills:
* A solid Linux skillset (we use Debian, but we’re not fussy)
* A good understanding of server hardware, and how to troubleshoot it
* Knowledge of some flavour of configuration management (preferably Puppet)
* Reasonable networking knowledge

If you also had one or more of these, so much the better:

Some kind of scripting language (Bash, Python, Ruby, etc.)
* Virsh / KVM
* Sensu
* PostgreSQL

And just for good measure, here’s a brief sampling of some of the
(many) other technologies in use across our platform, just waiting for
the right person to get involved:
* Foreman ( https://www.theforeman.org/ )
* PowerDNS
* LetsEncrypt
* Logstash / ELK / Kibana
* Openstack
* Ceph
* Solr
* Kafka
* HBase

If any of this piques your interest, and you’d like to work with
similarly smart and motivated people who share your passions, then we
definitely want to hear from you!

What we offer;

Benefits: We offer a range of benefits including; bike to work scheme,
pension contribution, childcare vouchers and discounted gym
memberships.
