We are growing our Technical Operations team to meet the demands of our
rapidly growing user community and have an opportunity for a senior Python
developer with formidable System Administration experience and excellent
communication skills. The focus of this position is on automation,
monitoring and operations tool development, working within the System
Administration team. This is an expert-level position in our Oakland, CA
office.

Responsibilities:

As a member of our Technical Operations team, you will participate in
design decisions and help run the company's core high-volume Debian Linux
infrastructure. Your primary focus will be authoring and maintaining the
tools that our System Administration, Datacenter Operations and Product
Development teams rely on to monitor and manage our systems and network.
This is a terrific role for a seasoned professional with experience in a
wide range of areas.

Requirements:

* You must be self-motivated, capable of managing your time well, and work efficiently without close supervision
* Minimum 3 years Python development experience
* Extensive experience with UNIX/Linux administration
* Experience building, supporting, and troubleshooting multi-tier, high-volume, production web installations
* Familiarity with Linux internals
* System management and monitoring technologies
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Strong understanding of Version Control Systems (git, Perforce)

Desired:

* Debian Developer (DD) or marked progress through NM
* Perl programming experience
* Experience with Configuration Management Software (Chef, Salt Stack, Ansible, Puppet)
* Build system automation design
* Debian Packaging & Policy
* Experience working with Nagios and its derivatives
* Experience extending Ganglia
* Operational Experience with structured data stores
* Operational Experience with message queueing systems
* Significant contributions to open source projects
* BA/BS or better in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent industry experience
