One funded Ph.D. position at CAS Atlantic [1] (a joint project of UNB and IBM) is available January 1, 2013 in the general area of dynamic language support for the Java Virtual Machine. Topics of interest include high performance implementations strategies for JSR 292, and more generally the performance of dynamic languages such as JRuby, JPython, Clojure, and PHP on the JVM. The ideal applicant would have background in programming languages, virtual machines, and low-level programming in C/C++. Applicants should have a Master's degree or a strong Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related discipline. PhD student funding is approximately CAD 24,000 per year, with higher funding available for exceptional candidates.
