Job Description
Selectable Media is looking for a talented system administrator to be a major contributor to the delivery, reliability and maintenance of its new social video platform. You should be a technical generalist who is eager to conquer our most challenging problems and is excited to learn new skills.
Selectable Media is the leading video distribution network targeted at the Gen Y audience. We make video advertising fun as we provide advertisers with an efficient and effective way to reach the younger demographic. You will be part of a rapidly growing startup as we look to expand our distribution network across social networking and mobile platforms.
Desired Skills & Experience
Requirements:
- Technical background in LAMP architecture (where A can be Apache and nginx/Passenger, and P can be PHP, Ruby or Perl).
- Ruby and Ruby on Rails maintenance and extensibility experience.
- Effective project delivery experience with great attention to detail.
- Strong communication and team working skills.
- Demonstrated self starter.
- Ability to participate and share 24/7 on-call duties.
- Deep understanding of modern web applications, REST, and HTTP.
- Extensive, deep and strong knowledge of networking and routing.
Experience with:
- Linux/Unix (Debian preferred) system administration of high traffic websites.
- Content delivery and distribution networks, video ad experience a big plus.
- Site reliability.
- Establishing and maintaining third-party integrations.
- Setup and maintenance of Amazon Web Services.
- Apache, Nginx, Mongrel, Thin, etc.
- MongoDB and/or Redis, Node.js a plus.
