This is an expert-level position in our Oakland, CA office with occasional response to our Data Center locations. Responsibilities As a senior member of our Technical Operations team, you will help drive design decisions and run the company's core Debian Linux infrastructure. You will design and implement infrastructure to scale our high volume, high availability internet services and work with the software development teams to specify, size and acquire new platforms. You will be expected to come up to speed quickly on difficult problems, lead projects, and become a significant contributor and mentor to a hard-working team. We have high expectations and are looking for seasoned professionals with experience in a wide range of areas. Requirements * You must be self-motivated, capable of managing your time well, and work efficiently without close supervision * Minimum 10 years experience with UNIX/Linux administration * Advanced systems and automation programming skills (e.g. shell, perl, python) * Advanced Storage Management experience * Familiarity with Linux system internals * Significant training and experience in computer security practices * Strong implementation and release practices * Strong familiarity with server hardware platforms * Comfort writing Wiki based documentation * Database and SQL experience, specifically with PostgreSQL * Build system automation design * System management and monitoring technologies * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * 7x24x365 support rotation Desired * Extensive experience building, supporting, and troubleshooting multi-tier, high-volume, production web installations * Experience with complex networking including detailed understanding of TCP and of all levels of OSI stack * Experience with HPC Clusters (especially Hadoop) * Experience providing streaming media direct to consumers * BA/BS or better in Computer Science or a related field * Some front-end web design experience for internal applications Response Instructions For immediate consideration, please follow this link: http://newton.newtonsoftware.com/career/SubmitResume.action?id=4028f88b28a6a0040128ad7950390c50&source=Debian Principals Only.
