Senior Systems Administrator [SSA01]

We are growing our Technical Operations team to meet the demands of our rapidly growing user community, and have a terrific opportunity for a Senior Systems Administrator with formidable experience and excellent communication skills. This is an expert-level position in our Oakland, CA office.

Responsibilities

As a senior member of our Technical Operations team, you will assume a pivotal role in creating the company's core high-volume systems and network infrastructure and participate in key design decisions. You will be expected to come up to speed quickly to meet technical goals and challenges, become a lead contributor in a hard-working and collaborative team, and take pride in your work. We have high expectations and are looking for a seasoned professional with experience in a wide range of areas.

Requirements

You must be self-motivated, capable of managing your time well, and work efficiently without close supervision. You place a high value on secure, highly available, fault-tolerant systems. You are proactive in identifying and resolving technical challenges, enthusiastically troubleshoot problems when they occur, and thrive as a collaborative team player. Requirements for this position also include:

+ Minimum 10 years administration experience with multiple versions of UNIX/Linux OS + Significant experience with complex networking, including architecture, across the various network layers
+ Significant hands-on experience with AMD/Intel server hardware
+ Extensive experience building, supporting, and troubleshooting large-scale deployments (150+ servers) and/or multi-tier, high-volume, production web installations
+ Build system automation design
+ Advanced systems programming skills (PERL, Python, Shell, etc.)
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
+ 7x24x365 support rotation experience

Highly Desirable

+ Significant Debian Linux experience
+ Significant training and experience in computer security practices
+ BA/BS or more in Computer Science or equivalent
Plusses
+ Advanced Storage Architecture experience
+ Experience running BGP
+ CISSP or similar
+ Experience providing high-bandwidth streaming media direct to consumers
