Systems positions at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, Cambridge
Hi - Debian aficionados might well be interested in this:
There are three vacancies at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute
(http://www.sanger.ac.uk/) for systems administrators. I'm posting a
link to the adverts here, because Debian is our distribution of
choice, so experienced Debian developers and/or admins are a plus.
Debian is used on around a thousand systems here, ranging from
desktop systems through high-availability application servers, a web
site serving >10 million hits per week, to a Top500-listed >1000 CPU
compute cluster all connected to a half petabyte SAN.
There are three vacancies to join the team of system administrators.
Experience in bioinformatics is important for one of the positions,
but not for the others. Either way, experience with enterprise-scale
systems is obviously a big plus for the senior positions.
If you're interested, see the job adverts on:
Senior Systems Administrator (Bioinformatics) - http://
www.sanger.ac.uk/careers/jobs/computing/307.shtml
Senior Systems Administrator - http://www.sanger.ac.uk/careers/jobs/
computing/310.shtml
The junior position does not require lots of experience, so if you're
looking for a way into this type of work, it's worth looking into:
Junior Systems Administrator - http://www.sanger.ac.uk/careers/jobs/
computing/308.shtml
Feel free to e-mail me off-list if you have any queries.
Regards,
Tim
PS. There are already three Debian developers on the Systems team.
More can't hurt!
