The Software
Engineer is responsible for assisting in the development of a servlet-based web
application, using Java and Apache. In addition, Linux system administration and
scripting skills will be required to assist in the maintenance of a script-based
build-and-release system.
Responsibilities
include but are not limited to:
• Contribute to development of Java
(servlet-based) web applications for controlling Unix driver.
• Assist in
build and release of Linux-based applications, as well as continuous improvement
of build process.
• Assist in part-time systems administration for various
Linux based distributions running on many types of different hardware.
•
Implement occasional documentation edits.
• Collaborate with storage team to
create Linux based shell scripts to aid in product
administration.
Requirements
•
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• 2+ years of software
development experience
• Knowledge in Java and various web-application
technologies (Apache, JSP, HTML, ant, struts, castor, PHP)
• Linux
administration skills. (shell scripting, hardware/OS configuration, etc.)
•
Proficiency with multiple major Linux distributions (Redhat, Suse, Debian, and
Gentoo) a plus
• Familiarity with storage networking (NAS, SAN, RAID) a
plus.
• Creating binary/source packages for various Linux distributions. (RPM
experience a plus)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
