I didn't investigate the root cause of the problem but I guess it has something to do with the execute_before_* lines in debian/rules. We call two build systems, maven and cmake, and somehow maven is unable to find the maven-compiler-plugin. Usually this just works without changes to the version number. I don't think a strict plugin dependency is the true solution but it might help future contributors to remember the RC bug. Cheers, Markus
