I don't want to stop you from packaging it but an inactive project is
usually a strong indication to look in other directions as well. Last
activity was two years ago. Maybe there is another package already in
Debian or elsewhere which does the same and is actively maintained?

In addition what Emmanuel has already written, you can also use uscan's
git mode like it was done in performous
