Is there a need of a hidden /etc/.java directory

Hi all,

Is there a reason for having a hidden /etc/.java directory ?

shirish@debian:/etc$ rm -rf .java
rm: cannot remove '.java/.systemPrefs/.systemRootModFile': Permission denied
rm: cannot remove '.java/.systemPrefs/.system.lock': Permission denied

I am unable to figure out what made this directory ?

Even the files therein are hidden.

shirish@debian:/etc/.java$ ls -lh
total 0
